KK9 Adoption Program
Our adoption levels reflect each dog’s preparation, training, and placement needs.
For sponsored placements, special circumstances, or select dogs whose best path to the right home does not include an adoption fee.
For dogs entering KK9 already comfortable in a home environment and displaying appropriate household manners. These dogs typically need evaluation, decompression, structure, and placement support rather than an extended formal training program.
For dogs prepared through KK9’s core program with the structure, manners, confidence, and handler foundation needed to move successfully into their next home.
For dogs receiving training beyond the KK9 foundation, including extended professional training, advanced obedience, individualized behavior work, working-dog development, or specialized skill training.
Adoption level is determined by each dog’s individual needs, training, and placement plan. Fees help offset a portion of the care and training invested in every Kingston K9 dog.
Official Guidelines
To protect the welfare and long-term placement success of each dog, Kingston K9 reserves the right to screen all applicants before approving an adoption. Screening may include review of the adoption application, veterinary reference checks, landlord or property approval verification, personal references, home visit or virtual home check, and review of relevant public records when necessary.
By applying to adopt, the applicant authorizes KK9 to verify the information provided and to conduct reasonable screening related to the safety and well-being of the dog. KK9 may deny an application if information is false or misleading, if pets are not permitted at the residence, if the home environment is determined to be unsafe or unsuitable for the specific dog, or if there is documented history of animal neglect, cruelty, abandonment, or other concerns directly affecting animal welfare.
All applicant information will be handled confidentially and used only for adoption-evaluation purposes.
Fosters give rescue dogs safe decompression and structured handling while they await adoption. We provide food, medical care, and supplies.
